This is a digital copy. We are in the midst of printing more copies of Portraits, a collection of micro fiction and art inspired by the unresolved feelings of real women. But now you can have your own digital copy of the book—all the same big feelings without the hassle of shipping costs.

CBC Books says of Portraits: "If you've ever felt like you have unfinished business with an ex, you've got an instant community between the covers of Portraits."

Broken Pencil Magazine chose Portraits as their staff pick in 2016: "This book looks as beautiful as it reads – it’s a thoughtfully-made self-published work that emphasizes the imprints that relationships make on the psyche and soul, and the importance of reflection and renewed self-discovery from a very empathetic female perspective (Alison Lang)."

120 pages, full colour.

Feelings can be art. But what does that mean?

"I go out walking, searching for lessons on the sides of buildings, trying to catch a positive thought that I can hold tightly like a subway token between gloved fingers. Your words are always the right ones, aren't they, but my feelings are stretched over canyons filled with all the words you did not say, and will not say, and so I look for helpful messages on sidewalks, in street signs, on billboards and magazine covers - but never in natural markers, because the leaves are always whispering your damn name."

Love, lust and loss are universal experiences and Portraits reveals the vulnerability, anger, doubt, depression, introspection, desire, sadness, jealousy and regret that women experience while trying to come to terms with or let go of a past lover. Each short story is paired with art produced specifically for the text.

The book is separated into five volumes and each volume features work by a different visual artist including Melanie Lambrick, Erin McPhee, Kathryn Bondy, Anna Denise Floor and Alex Begin.

This is a book and kinda a feminist graphic novel and also an indie perzine and a definitely a personal collection of feelings that you'll relate to, I'm sure of it.
